Hello world, welcome to my I’m-pissed-off-and-having-a-shitty-Monday blog where I will be tearing apart everything in the world that is ruining my rainy, cold and dark week kickoff. Fuck this rain, snow already. I’m tired of being cold and having nothing to show for it.

Speaking of cold, why are all retail products in the U.S.A. so fucking expensive? Is corporate America hurting that bad for profit or are they just wasting all their profit on advertising? The situation at hand currently deals with overpriced consumer electronics, namely a headset communicator for the Live purposes of the Xbox 360 console.

Recently 2 of my headsets died. Naturally I expected this because they are pretty flimsy and cheap pieces of equipment. Not a big deal. Not yet at least. I went to the local K-Mart(because there’s no fucking Wal-Mart here) to pick up a replacement headset. I was immediately turned away at the cost. A wired headset for the console is $19.99. I was NOT going to pay that much for something that I knew first hand was nothing more than a cheap microphone and speaker inside weak plastic. I could have rewired and repaired this contraption for the cost of a drip of solder and the electricity to heat up the iron.

Anyways, so I was a bit steamed at that price, as most consumers are, so I went home and began my online trek. My first stop is usually Amazon, they’re reliable and usually have those “mini-stores”, as I like to call them, to shop from with ridiculously low prices on new, unused equipment. Naturally I was right, as usual. I managed to find, in a few short minutes, many headsets for as low as $11, shipping included. But I still wasn’t satisfied. Fuck you, I’m unemployed, I’m allowed to bargain hunt. ebay was beginning to look like option 2.

So before heading to ebay, I decided to google myself some results. Long story short, I didn’t feel like clicking on 3,992,920,365 sites to find a deal, just wasn’t worth my time. So after 5 or 6 I gave up and headed straight to auction central. ebay immediately found me what I was looking for, so I sorted by price. WHAM! Just like that, a $6.66 headset with free shipping. BUY NOW! So I did. As an impulse I just went crazy and took that opportunity while it was still there, that was nearly $5 cheaper than the next best thing and I even had problems finding used ones this cheap with shipping costs.

4 business days later, I had my product. Now, being the keen commander of observation that I am, the first thing I noticed when I pulled the package out of the mailbox was the Chinese writing on a green label…I was confused. Apparently I had ordered this headset from Hong Kong. This is not a problem to me, as long as I got my shit. But then I had a thought, “How fucking much did it cost this Gookanese to ship this to me via air mail?”  Well luckily there was a dollar ammount on the green tag.

$5.00 shipping!

5 FUCKING DOLLARS?!?!11  So seriously, that zipperhead made $1.66 off of my purchase.  Let’s do the math here: $19.99 - $1.66 = $18.33.  Somewhere out there, there’s a difference of over 18 dollars on the price of headsets between one mainland and another.  I’m not understanding this 100%.  I feel as if I’m either getting mega-screwed by the corporations in our country or I just bought a headset that fell off the back of a missing truck somewhere outside Calhoun Bay.  After re-checking the ebay seller’s feedback and mass quantity of items available, I’m not so inclined to lean towards the truck option.

So why are the corporations raping us so hard?  Is this what makes out country so “great”?  Shitting on the little guys seems to help out a lot, because naturally we tend not to know any better.  I, myself, am making a firm stance from here on out to buy from overseas as often as possible if this continues to be the case.  Knowing that with rising gas prices I can get things cheaper from 10,000 miles away than 5 is very comforting to me, because hey, I ain’t wasting my gas anymore.

Fuck you America.  Fuck you up your stupid ass.  Also, quit bailing out the banks.  It’s the citizens that are hurting, not the multi-billion dollar salaried CEOs.

<xterm> The problem with America is stupidity. I’m not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don’t we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

I endorse this quote.
